Ajisai Nekomiya
A cat who, growing tired of the small island she was born on, aspired for more exciting things ( or so she says, there's far more to this ) So now Ajisai is a bakeneko who runs her own cafe (Café Meowcha), helping her fellow felines - both supernatural and not. She also acts as a source of info for the supernatural community in the city she calls home, due to her strictly neutral stance; due to this, her cafe also acts as a neutral ground amidst territory fights.
Underneath that is, maybe a surprise for how abrasive she can be, is a system of safe houses. Mostly for displaced and distressed yokai, but this will also be offered to humans that are aware of the supernatural. Or those who are not, so long as they can keep a secret. It's a business on a "need to know" basis, and anyone asking her outright - who don't need the help - will be told to keep their nose out of places it doesn't belong.
Also she doesn't need the glasses, she just thinks they look cute.
Come in, enjoy the cats and coffee (she's very proud of it), and don't cause trouble. Ajisai is liable to bite otherwise.

background
Years ago, during the early 1800s of Japan, something dark was sweeping across the country; crops failing, farm animals becoming ill, water tainted and soon people going missing. A rumour spread that an old, old demon from the depths of the sea was awakening, and that the seals had lost its power and could no longer keep it in place. The rumours reaching a young girl who lived within a rural village, who would later become the hero to seal the demon back into the sea.
Ajisai, however, isn't the young girl - rather, she's the girls faithful pet black cat. Throughout their adventures, the continued exposure to demonic energy and her owners own supernatural abilities changed her into a Kaibyō; enabling her to take up the snarky sidekick role. For months upon months they travelled together, picking up allies along the way; and bit by bit, they managed to push back the wave of corruption. It was going to be a happy ending, except the final piece needed to seal away the demon for good required a sacrifice - a pure source of life to strengthen the seal. The girl accepted this with no hesitation, always wanting to do her best to protect others - and Ajisai was furious. All of this work and pain, just to die? Where were the gods that bestowed her power? Shouldn't they do something to prevent the death of their hero? Despite her rage, the girl simply soothed her dear friend, and then she was gone.
Ajisai never really recovered from her death, the loss of the human that named her. As years passed, the girl and her companions fell into obscurity - in the end, only Ajisai remembered. She was aimless, a demon prowling forests picking fights in an attempt to find something worth meaning in this long life she never wanted. It was coincidence she came across the girls descendants, and some of that power seems to have been inherited by them. They could see this black cat (her disguise) as what she really was, but accepted her into their home all the same. Their home was actually a cafe, which was home to many other cats like her; supernatural and with nowhere to go.
The inspiration came to her then, and eventually the cat made her way to Tokyo. It took time and effort and scrapping up whatever money she could find, but she soon set up her own little cafe, open to cats, humans and yokai alike. A place of respite, and a place to belong - the cafe acting as the front of the actual business Ajisai established, safe havens for the lost and scared. She may not be the most personable and would rather not deal with difficult things, but she could extend forward the kindness granted to her by her precious human and her family.
